Tour Overview
Athletic and graceful like a floor gymnast, the female gerenuk stands on her hind legs and deftly stretches her long, slender neck towards delicate acacia shoots. How long do you think you can go without a sip of water? A day, maybe two? The strangely proportioned and curious-looking antelope manages for a lifetime. It takes in all its liquid requirements with its food and never needs to drink. Elephants, buffalo and lions live here on the Ewaso-Ng'iro River in the Samburu National Reserve, but the secret stars are survivalists such as gerenuks, Somali ostriches, reticulated giraffes and Beisa oryx antelopes. They are all perfectly adapted to the harsh, arid wilderness of northern Kenya and can only be seen here and nowhere else in the country.Rarely visited wildlife areas, vastness of the Masai Mara, rhino sanctuary and KilimanjaroPssst, don't tell anyone! This once-in-a-lifetime safari adventure introduces you to all the natural diversity of East Africa and some of Kenya's best-kept safari secrets. In the parched bushveld of the Samburu Reserve, you will be on the trail of the leopard. Further south at the foot of Mount Kenya, you will hike through the savannah with graceful giraffes and experience the protection of endangered black and white rhinos. In Aberdare National Park, you will then discover the lush green mountain cloud forest on elephant trails before joining the wildebeest herds in the "Mara" and chasing impetuously towards the horizon. Enjoy the great Kenya tour until the elephants say goodbye to you at Kilimanjaro.
