Day 1Machame Gate (1490m) – Machame Camp (2980m) Machame Gate (1490m) – Machame Camp (2980m) After an early breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up from Arusha and driven to Machame village. In the village, you can buy mineral water and will receive a packed lunch. From the village, depending on the road conditions, you will either continue driving 3 kilometres or walk to the Machame Gate (1490m). At the gate, the porters will organize and pack the belongings for the hike while you and your guide register with the Tanzania National Park. You will then begin your ascent into the rainforest. During this section of the hike, you should expect rain, mud, and fog. Also, be on the lookout for wildlife, including Colobus monkeys! About halfway up the trail, you will have a lunch break and you will reach the Machame Camp (2980m) in the late afternoon or early evening. Day 2Machame Camp (2980m) – Shira Camp (3840m) Machame Camp (2980m) – Shira Camp (3840m) After breakfast, you will start trekking up to the second high-altitude camp, Shira Camp (3,845 m). On this day, you will emerge from the rainforest and for the first time be able to see stunning views of the Shira Plateau laid out in front of you. Physically speaking, trekking is not very difficult, but you may feel the changes in altitude, so pay attention to your body and remember that choosing the proper pace is extremely important for good trekking. When you reach the camp, you will have lunch and some rest, after which the group will go on an acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower Camp with a 300-meter gain in altitude. Back down at Shira Camp, you will be served a hot dinner. After 5 hours of walking east, you will come face to face with the Lava Tower (4630m). Packed lunches are served at the Tower, and hikers have the option of climbing the massive Lava Tower weather permitting. At this point of the hike, it is normal for hikers to start feeling the effects of the altitude including headaches and shortness of breath. Barranco Camp (3950m) – Karanga Camp (3950m)

Day 4Barranco Camp (3950m) – Karanga Camp (3950m) Barranco Camp (3950m) – Karanga Camp (3950m) You will wake up early, have breakfast, and start summiting Barranco Wall (we recommend you leave the camp as early as possible to avoid crowds of the other groups). Hiking up the gorge wall is not difficult and only takes around an hour. After the climb, you can have a rest and take photos in front of the Kibo volcano. Then you will start a more difficult hike to Karanga Camp, which features numerous ascents and descents during the route, but don't worry: our guides are experts at choosing an optimal pace for the group. After reaching the camp you will be offered warm lunch. After a couple of hours, you will have to complete an acclimatization hike in the direction of Barafu Camp with a 200-meter gain in altitude and then descend back down to the camp. Karanga Camp (3959m) – Barafu Hut (4600m)

Day 5Karanga Camp (3959m) – Barafu Hut (4600m) Karanga Camp (3959m) – Barafu Hut (4600m) After having breakfast, you will leave Karanga Camp (3959m). The trail intersects with the Mweka Route, which is the trail used to descend on the final two days. As you continue hiking for an hour, you will reach Barafu Hut. This is the last water stop for the porters because there is no accessible water at Barafu Camp (4550m). The word “barafu” in Swahili means “ice” and this camp is located on a rocky, exposed ridge. Tents will be exposed to wind and rocks so it is important for hikers to familiarize themselves with the campsite before dark. An early dinner will be served so hikers can rest before attempting the summit the same night. Your guide will brief you in detail on how to prepare for summit night. Summit Attempt

Day 6Summit Attempt Summit Attempt You will depart from Barafu Camp (4,640 m) at night and the start of summiting Kilimanjaro: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Technically the climb is relatively simple; however, the most challenging part is the high altitude. Each pair of climbers will get a personal guide for the entire ascent to monitor their physical and mental conditions. After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak, you can descend to the nearest glacier if desired. Then you will return to Barafu Camp and after a 2-hour rest continue your descent to Millennium camp. After your descent the whole group will gather to congratulate you, followed by offering you a chance to share your opinions about the climb in the guestbook. Lastly, We will drop you off at Kilimanjaro airport.
