Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary
Day 1Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary We'll pick you up at Mbabane or King Mswati III Airport and transfer you to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. This reserve was turned into a Sanctuary, where Swaziland's rapidly vanishing wild animals could find refuge and protection. Enjoy a nice buffet-style dinner with local food followed by traditional Swazi dance. Your overnight stay will be in the reserve. Various Highlights
Day 2Various Highlights Various Highlights Ascending to Mbabane, Swaziland's capital city, the tour continues north to Malolotja Nature Reserve. Here the old Ngwenya Iron Ore Mine is a major feature. The Lion Cavern is undisputed the oldest human excavation in the world (circa. 43000BC) and although now dwarfed by the iron ore excavation, it remains a fascinating insight into stone age history. Then it's time for discovering Swaziland's number one artwork attraction—Ngwenya Glass. This showroom and factory combined into one allow visitors to watch as local craftsman create works of art, such as animal sculptures and exquisite tableware. Continuing north, the tour heads towards the scenic Komati River Valley. There are superb viewing and photographic opportunities in rural Swazi community areas en route. As a final highlight, the tour passes the massive Sibebe Rock monolith—Swaziland's most famous geological feature. Hlane Royal National Park
Day 3Hlane Royal National Park Hlane Royal National Park Transfer to Hlane Royal National Park. Hlane Royal National Park was proclaimed as a national park in 1967, following Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary (1961), under the instruction of King Sobhuza ll. "Hlane" is the siSwati name for 'wilderness'. Hlane is an affordable Lowveld destination with exciting species lists including impressive ancient hardwood habitats, big game and rich birdlife. This 22,000-ha park, once the region’s rich hunting grounds, still boasts the largest herds of game in the Kingdom with speciality species being lions, elephants, vultures and marabou storks. Here we will do a nice sunset game drive and hopefully be able to see plenty of animals. After a nice drink watching the sunset, we will head back to camp for dinner and your overnight stay. Activities at Hlane Royal National Park
Day 4Activities at Hlane Royal National Park Activities at Hlane Royal National Park An early morning wake-up call will take us on a sunrise game drive followed by breakfast. After breakfast, if the weather permits, you are welcome to have a game walk. All game walks on Hlane are guided and conducted outside the endangered species area, along roads and game paths, or simply through the bush. 2 hours of quiet walking in nature heightens all the senses and the slow pace allows for interpretation of the signs of the wild, making the experience truly memorable. Your preference for either a game walk or a birding walk will dictate the area chosen for the walk. Our recently introduced Mahlindza Dam Walk circumnavigates the largest and busiest water source on Hlane, amid mature trees rich with birdlife. Nice leisure time for the rest of the day will give you time to feel like you’re on holiday.
