Embark Sail Boat Kariba Beach
Day 1Embark Sail Boat Kariba Beach Embark Sail Boat Kariba Beach You'll embark on your personal sailing catamaran and head off across the lake. You'll sleep on or below decks in the wilderness with elephants dotting the shoreline. Tikki Cats are easy-to-sail so you will learn quickly under the guidance of our expert skipper. Once you have tasted the pleasure of free-forward momentum from the wind, you will be hooked and soon enough you will be operating the tiller and seeking out the wind yourself. 1. This is a participatory trip, you will be expected to help sail the boat under the guidance of your very experienced skipper, this is half the fun. 2. Sailing and route are subject to weather conditions at the sole discretion of your skipper based on his assessment of current and forecast weather. If necessary, we will arrange alternative Kariba accommodation. 3. You'll have a few beers but if you are planning a huge binge, take a houseboat! Cruise Kariba Lake
Day 2Cruise Kariba Lake Cruise Kariba Lake You'll sail across the Eastern Basin from Sampakaruma Island to Sanyati Gorge on the Matusadona National Park Shoreline, either tacking with the wind or under power between Rhino and Long Islands then past Spurwing Island. There are wide open spaces to the lake horizon with the Matusadona Mountain range running into infinity in the distant blue haze. You'll motor up into the spectacular Sanyati gorge. Enjoy wildlife and bird views or fish for Tiger Fish or Bream on the Matusadona Bank while waiting for the afternoon sun to finish baking on the opposite bank. Then, you'll cross the river and tie up in a secluded cove, and spend the evening in splendid isolation. The sun will hit you later on the left bank. You'll get the chance to climb the mountain bank on the Gache Gache side to take in the views up the gorge from above. This is an adventure for hands-on people who want to learn and are not shy to do new things. If that is not you, seriously, [lease rather take a houseboat. Return to Kariba Harbor and Disembark
Day 3Return to Kariba Harbor and Disembark Return to Kariba Harbor and Disembark Another day dawns in paradise as you are awoken on the decks to the dawn chorus of hippos grunting and birdsong echoing through the gorge. You'll set sail early for Kariba Town, aiming to disembark early-mid-afternoon. N.B. You must book overnight accommodation in Kariba Town this evening as same-day onward travel will be impossible as we cannot guarantee a set disembarkation time due to the nature of sailing. The vessel has a motor in case of totally unfavorable winds but you do not want to be in a rush to reach shore on the last day, rather savor the sailing. You cannot make a mistake going with Manapools - for knowledge, detailed planning, vehicle maintenance, hosting and agility. These guys know what they do. Our family group of 6 had a great time on safari with knowledgeable guide cum driver...
Very impressed with the service we received from Ant in advance of the trip. Organising an itinerary that suited our timescales and requirements over WhatsApp, email, phone and facetime was all done with a minimum of fuss. Upon arrival...
We went on zim for 2 weeks, mixing lodges and campsites in mana pools, hwange and Kazuma pan, sailing in kariba lake. Everything was perfectly planned by Ant from manapools.com, only good surprises.
It’s been about a week since we’ve been back after 24 nights in Zim and we can’t get enough of reminiscing. To start with there were dozens of calls and WhatsApp messages with Ant as we planned a once in a lifetime...
When planning our trip, Ant''s advice was precious to put up a realistic itinerary allowing us to combine both must sees (Vic Falls, Mana Pools) and pretty unique experiences (sailing the Kariba lake on a catamaran then crossing the lake on...
