Road transfer to the Volcanoes mountain area, depending on your flight time we can add a pre night in Kigali. The transfer takes about 2.5 hours. You are warmly welcome at Sambora Kinigi, and the rest of the day is at leisure to take in the wonderful gardens, acclimatize and prepare for your early departure the next day. Day 2Meet with the Gorillas at Volcanoes National Park Meet with the Gorillas at Volcanoes National Park Your gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda begins early in the morning at the Volcanoes National Park headquarters where you’ll meet the park’s expert rangers for a briefing. You’ll set off into the dense, mist-covered forests of the Virunga Mountains, guided by skilled trackers who know the movements and behaviors of the gorilla families. The trek itself can vary in length and difficulty depending on the location of the gorillas. Along the way, the rangers share insights about the ecosystem and wildlife. Then, in a moment that’s nothing short of magical, you’ll come face-to-face with a family of endangered mountain gorillas—often including playful juveniles, watchful mothers, and a dominant silverback. You’ll spend a precious hour in their presence, observing their interactions and soaking in the incredible sense of connection. Once the encounter ends, you’ll retrace your steps with a quiet sense of awe, returning to the lodge with memories that will last a lifetime. Day 3Transfer to Kigali International Airport Transfer to Kigali International Airport After a hearty breakfast, you will say your good byes to the team at Sambora and return to Kigali. The road transfer includes a tour of the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Lunch is at your leisure and you are transferred at the airport, on time for your onward flight.
