Renowned for its abundant wildlife, the park boasts a significant elephant population, especially during the dry season when herds gather near the Tarangire River. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, and various antelope species also call this park home. The landscape of Tarangire is a captivating blend of open grasslands, acacia woodlands, and swamps. The Tarangire River, a vital water source during the dry season, attracts a high concentration of animals to its banks. Following a satisfying full-day game drive at Tarangire, we will transport you to your luxury lodge in Karatu for some well-deserved rest. Day 2Tarangire to Ngorongoro Crater Tarangire to Ngorongoro Crater The distance from Karatu to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the Ngorongoro Crater is located, is relatively short. Karatu is a town situated near the entrance to the conservation area. The journey from Karatu to the Ngorongoro Crater typically takes around 20-30 minutes by road. The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its incredible concentration of wildlife. This includes a variety of animals such as lions, elephants, zebras, and an abundance of bird species. The crater itself is the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera, providing a unique and diverse ecosystem for wildlife viewing. After enjoying this final day of safari amid the spectacular scenery and wildlife of the Ngorongoro Crater, we will transfer you back to Arusha.
