Itinerary
Kafue River
Day 3Kafue River Kafue River A long drive takes us across the rolling Miombo forested hills of Southern Zambia to the Kafue River where we will camp for the night. This is a long driving day along very scenic and bumpy roads. We will stop for sightseeing and lunch. We expect a travel day of ±10 hours. Main Destination: Kafue River (Zambia) Accommodation: Budget camping Meals & Drinks: All meals included Drinks not included Day 4-5Lower Zambezi Canoeing Lower Zambezi Canoeing We'll paddle down the mighty Zambezi River, home of the tribal mythical god—Nyami Nyami. You'll be canoeing past local riverside villages and magnificent scenery. We'll camp wild on an island in the heart of untamed Africa. The following morning, we'll continue our canoe safari through an area teeming with elephants, hippos and other wildlife. We will be collected by a motorboat and transferred back upriver to our starting campsite. Day 6Lusaka Lusaka We'll head to Lusaka where we'll stock up on supplies in the bustling shops and markets of the Zambian capital. Taking the Great East Road, we'll drive this afternoon until sunset. (This is a very long day of travel but it also allows us to get to South Luangwa sooner on day 7). Main Destination: Lusaka (City, Zambia) Accommodation: Chimwemwe Lodge Mid-range hotel in Petauke (Town, Zambia) +2 Photos Meals & Drinks: All meals included Drinks not included Day 7-9South Luangwa National Park South Luangwa National Park We'll make our way down into “the valley” of South Luangwa National Park. This remote region is one of Africa’s finest wildlife sanctuaries where hippos, elephants, lions and leopards abound. We'll camp on the banks of the Luangwa River and explore the area on 2 game walks and 2 open 4WD game drives, one at night with spotlights, to see nocturnal animals. (In the green season, December–April, walks may not be possible in which case we’ll do extra game drives).
