Ngorongoro Crater

Day 5Ngorongoro Crater Ngorongoro Crater Today is dedicated to exploring Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most concentrated wildlife areas on Earth. After a delicious breakfast, you’ll descend the steep crater walls into the lush crater floor, where an ecosystem exists that supports nearly every species of African wildlife. As you travel across the floor of this extinct volcano, you’ll be able to observe a variety of animals. Lions rest in the tall grass while elephants roam the forests. The crater is also home to a small population of black rhinos, which are rarely seen in other areas of Tanzania. Ngorongoro is an excellent place for birdwatching, too. You’ll likely see flamingos, pelicans, and Egyptian geese near the Ngorongoro Crater Lake, as well as raptors like eagles and vultures soaring overhead.
