Day 1Antananarivo Antananarivo Landing in Antananarivo, a local guide from the company will be assigned to welcome you at the Airport of Ivato Airport. On the way, you would discover a newly transplanted baobab, a decorative and welcoming statement, as a first appreciation of the beauty of nature. Ongoing through the street of Tsarasaotra, you will discover the dynamic life of the city in Antananarivo. You'll head straight to the hotel, where the drive may take 1 hour depending on the traffic. Day 2Antananarivo - Amborodia - Morondava Antananarivo - Amborodia - Morondava You'll have an early departure from the hotel to reach the national airport of Antananarivo, where a private charter with the MTA company is waiting for us. Flying straight to Amborodia, where the national park of Tsingy de Bemaraha, the total time of flying time may take about 1h 30. Upon landing, a private 4WD is already waiting at the local airport to head to the entrance of the park. The trail would take 4 hours maximum, on the path of Andamozavaky. After the visit to the Tsingy, you will take a flight from Andamozavaky and head back to Morondava city, to enjoy the view on the baobab alley, and enjoy the sunset (Note: the baobab alley is where Lonely Planet has done its greatest photo all over Madagascar). flying time: 1h30 Driving distance: 1 hour for 25 km Walking time: 3 to 4 hours Private charter: Monoturbine Cessna. Today's program will be an afternoon visit to an ornithologist center in Tsarasaotra, Antananarivo, to spot endemic birds that breed only in Madagascar. Day 4Antananarivo to Anjanjavy Antananarivo to Anjanjavy You'll depart with a shared private charter from Antananarivo to Anjajavy between 7:00 – 8:30 am. Anjajavy le lodge protects a 1,030-hectare Private reserve and manages a 10,000 hectare National Protected area which features seven types of natural habitats. Wildlife Activities and Local tribes Walk: You'll discover the underground microcosm of this small network of caves in a hill inside the Private Reserve. You'll explore its amazing speleothems such as glowing flowstones, stalactites, and stalagmites. With a little luck, you will observe two species of bats: the western sheath-tailed bat (Paremballonura tiavato) and the leaf-nosed bat (Hipposideros commersoni). Distance: 4 km by car / 700 m walk Duration: 1.5 hours. Difficulties: Easy with rocky paths and a fairly steep slope of 300 m. Guidance: Included, a guided excursion with 8 people per group. Day 5Anjanjavy Reserve Anjanjavy Reserve Today's activities are about the wildlife view in "the Crab Path walk". Follow the path lined with baobabs and tsingy walls through the mangrove swamps where the famous hairy crabs live. Inside a chaos of rocks, at the foot of a tsingy wall, is the entrance shaft of the fossil cave. You'll descend a ladder 5 meters into the ground and, at the bottom of the chasm, you will find subfossils of extinct giant lemurs (Paleopropithecus kelyus). An endemic bat species, the western sheath-tailed bat (Paremballonura tiavato), is often observed. Distance: 1.5 km. Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours. Difficulties: 5 m ladder to climb down, slippery slopes of caves. Warm and humid inside the cave. Guidance: Included, grouped excursion with 8 people per groupmaximum. Equipment: Walking shoes, long pants, mosquito repellent, and a flashlight if you have one. Condition: The cave is closed during the rainy season. Day 6Anjajavy Reserve Anjajavy Reserve Today's activities are about the wildlife view from "Cove to Cove" You'll walk along this path, over the cliffs and into the forest, and discover the deserted and beautiful beaches to the south of the lodge’s private peninsula. If you are lucky, you will be able to observe the majestic and extremely rare Madagascar fish eagle (Haliaeetus vociferoides) around the cove IV & V. You'll visit the wide beach of Cove V before returning by the loop of Cove III or, at low tide, by the mangrove Anaty-Honko. If the sea is clear, you can snorkel around the islets of cove III. Recommended departure time: Early morning, or after 4:00 pm. Distance: 5 km. Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours. Difficulty: Rocky paths, many rustic stairs. Guidance: The excursion can be done by yourselves, but a guide is mandatory if you plan to visit the village of Kinga. Equipment: Sandals, swimsuit, towels, and possibly snorkels and fins (available at the swimming pool). A flashlight if you leave in the late afternoon.
