Victoria Falls straddles the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. The river plunges over a mile-wide precipice, dropping about twice the height of Niagara Falls into a narrow gorge creating a spray mist, giving the falls its ethereal appearance. Sight: The falls span the entire width of the Zambezi River, creating a continuous sheet of falling water. Sound: You can hear the roar of the falls from about a mile away. Feel: Visitors walking on the opposite side of the narrow gorge can feel the spray (ponchos recommended). Smell and Taste: The mist carries a distinct scent, and the experience is truly multisensory. After a short helicopter flight over the falls, you will have the afternoon at leisure, or you can book one of many optional activities with your hotel reception, possibly a bridge tour, gorge swing, white water rafting, or bungee jumping.
