Rolling hills, rural villages, and terraced farms define the journey. On arrival, attend a short briefing at park headquarters before entering the bamboo forest for the Golden Monkey Trek. These playful and fast-moving primates offer a lively forest experience and excellent photography opportunities. After the trek, begin the cross-border drive into Uganda via the Cyanika or Katuna border. Continue through the Kigezi Highlands, often called the Switzerland of Africa, toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Expect winding roads, panoramic views, and a gradual transition into dense rainforest. Arrive at your lodge in the evening, settle in, and enjoy dinner while listening to forest sounds. Day 2Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Gorilla Trekking – Transfer to Kibale Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Gorilla Trekking – Transfer to Kibale Wake early for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Enter the ancient rainforest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek duration varies based on gorilla movements, terrain, and fitness levels, but the reward remains extraordinary. One hour spent observing gorillas in their natural habitat creates a powerful and emotional wildlife encounter. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and begin the long but scenic transfer to Kibale National Park. The route passes through rural landscapes, tea plantations, crater lakes, and sections of Queen Elizabeth region. Expect changing scenery and authentic local life along the way. Arrive in Kibale in the evening and relax at your lodge. Day 3Kibale National Park – Chimpanzee Trek – Return to Kigali Kibale National Park – Chimpanzee Trek – Return to Kigali After breakfast, head to Kibale Forest headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. The forest hosts one of the highest densities of primates in Africa. During the trek, encounter chimpanzees as they feed, groom, and move through the canopy, often accompanied by other monkey species and rich birdlife. Following the trek, return to the lodge for lunch before starting the journey back to Kigali. The drive leads south through Uganda, crossing back into Rwanda and continuing to Kigali for drop-off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of the safari.
