Day by Day
Itinerary
Nairobi
Land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and connect with your guide and driver who'll take you to your hotel. Your representative will walk through the safari itinerary ahead and answer any questions you might have about what's coming up.
Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, you'll drive to Amboseli National Park where the landscape opens up around a dry lake bed with Mt. Kilimanjaro on the horizon. Grab lunch at the lodge, then head out in the afternoon to look for elephants, lions, giraffes, and other wildlife that roams this area.
Lake Manyara
This full day takes you out on two separate game drives across Amboseli's lake bed. You'll search for cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, and elephant herds with Kilimanjaro as your backdrop. If you're interested, there's an optional visit to a Masai village available for a fee.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, you head toward Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake set in the Great Rift Valley. The drive crosses the Namanga border where you'll clear customs, then stop in Arusha for lunch before an afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, known for lions that climb trees.
Serengeti National Park
Spend the morning relaxing at your lodge before driving to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with its mix of rolling plains, crater formations, lakes, and dormant volcanoes. After a hot lunch back at the lodge, you can rest or visit a cultural village if you'd like.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
This morning you'll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater itself, a unique ecosystem with grasslands, swamps, forests, and a fresh water lake all contained within. The crater holds all five of the Big Five plus dense populations of predators and other plains animals. Lunch is a picnic on the crater floor.
Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, you drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with packed lunches, then cross into Serengeti National Park. Along the way, you'll stop at Ol Duvai Gorge, an important prehistoric site where paleontologists made major discoveries. You'll reach camp with time to settle in before dinner.
You'll spend the entire day driving through Serengeti's open savannah looking for wildlife. All meals happen out in the field in typical safari style. The park holds millions of wildebeest during migration, plus lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, and other plains animals. Return to camp for the night.
After breakfast and a briefing from your driver, you head toward Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey includes a border stop at Isebania for customs, and you'll carry packed lunches with you. You'll arrive in time for a late afternoon game drive, then gather around a campfire before dinner.
You have the full day for safari in Masai Mara, one of Africa's most active wildlife areas. Look for large lion prides, elephant herds, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, hippos, Nile crocodiles, giraffes, gazelles, zebras, buffalo, and hundreds of bird species. Optional hot air balloon rides and Masai village visits are available for additional fees.
After breakfast, you'll drive toward Lake Naivasha and arrive in time to check in and have a late lunch. The afternoon is yours to relax at your camp and enjoy the lakeside setting.
Start with a morning boat ride to Crescent Island Game Park where you can actually walk among animals like wildebeest, waterbuck, zebras, gazelles, hippos, and giraffes. From the hilltop, you get 360-degree views of the Rift Valley. After returning by boat, you'll drive back to Nairobi for early afternoon shopping, then head to the airport for your departure.
