Day 2Antananarivo - Antsirabe Antananarivo - Antsirabe After breakfast at hotel we will visit the queen ’s palace to learn the monarchy of Madagascar and visit the market where you will see colorful products and get better understanding about the Malagasy life style in general. After the visit we will drive towards Antsirabe. On the way we will have a quick stop at Ambatolampy to visit the Madagascar’s pot factory capital. Late afternoon arrival in Antsirabe. On the way, you will enjoy seeing the amazing landscapes of the southwest and many villages and villagers. You will see many zebus (a type of cattle) and some baobabs along the way, just a few kilometers before reaching Morondava. Overnight in Morondava at Vezo Beach hotel or similar. Morondava - Bekopaka
Day 4Morondava - Bekopaka Morondava - Bekopaka After breakfast, we will drive to Bekopaka, a village that is the gateway to Tsingy De Bemaraha National Park. We will go through the Alley of the Baobab and have a quick stopover to get a feeling of this paradise before continuing to Bekopaka. From here, we will cross two different rivers on ferry boats. After the first ferry, we will stop to have lunch at a town called Belo sur Tsiribihina. After lunch, we will continue our way further to Bekopaka, and a few kilometers before Bekopaka, we will cross another river called the Manambolo River. After the last ferry, we will drive for a few minutes to our hotel. Overnight in Bekopaka at Orchidée du Bemaraha hotel or similar. Tsingy De Bemaraha National Park
Day 5Tsingy De Bemaraha National Park Tsingy De Bemaraha National Park On day five, we will spend a day in nature, discovering the Tsingy De Bemaraha National Park. The Bemaraha Tsingy is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the most extensive protected area by the Malagasy State. At the Tsingy, we will see the cathedral, the viewpoint, the hanging bridge, and many indigenous animals that live here, such as the sifaka lemur and common brown lemur. We will also see wild birds and the biggest carnivore in Madagascar, the fossa (compared to a small cougar). We will also see different indigenous plants, such as the palissandre (a type of rosewood). After lunch, we will continue our excursion into the smaller section of the Tsingy. Bekopaka - Morondava
Day 6Bekopaka - Morondava Bekopaka - Morondava On day five, after breakfast, we will travel south to Morondava. On the way to Morondava, we will see the baobab in love (a single tree that splits in two at the base). It is said to be in love because its two trunks intertwine up to 30 meters high). This tree symbolizes the union of two lovers, and many couples come here to renew their vows. From here, we continue our drive to admire a place known for fabulous sunsets, the sunset at the Alley of the Baobabs. The baobabs in this region are said to be around eight hundred years old, and it is one of the most popular attractions in Madagascar. After our sunset experience at the Alley of the Baobabs, we will continue our drive to our final destination for the day, Morondava. Upon arrival at Morondava, we will check into our hotel and settle in for the evening. Overnight in Morondava at Vezo Beach hotel or similar. Morondava - Belo Sur Mer
Day 7Morondava - Belo Sur Mer Morondava - Belo Sur Mer We depart early in the morning to reach Belo Sur Mer. Today we start our journey off-road, which takes about five hours to cover 350km. You will go through some desert areas where the white sand and the remnants of salt create a new and fascinating landscape. We will arrive in Belo Sur Mer around lunchtime, around 2:00pm, and have the afternoon free to discover this delightful, tiny fishing village that transforms according to the tides. Belo Sur Mer is famous for constructing boats (monos) and canoes, and you can visit the construction site. Overnight in Belo Sur Mer at Ecolodge du Menabe hotel or similar. Day 8Belo Sur Mer - Morombe Belo Sur Mer - Morombe We depart in the morning, immediately after breakfast, to continue to Morombe, a little fishing village on the southwest coast in Atsimo-Andrefana. This will be the last, particularly challenging, section before getting to the beautiful Salary Bay. We will arrive at the village around 4:30pm. Lunch today will be taken as a picnic. Before it gets dark, you will have some time to walk along the beach or visit the village (relatively small). Overnight in Morombe at Auberge Chez Laurette or similar. Day 12Ifaty - Ranohira Ifaty - Ranohira We depart in the morning after breakfast from Ifaty and travel along the legendary RN7 to reach Ranohira. You will enter and drive through the country's highlands from the coast. Route Nationale 7 (RN7) is one main road in Madagascar that runs 980km from the capital Antananarivo to Tulear, on the country's southwest coast. Cross the regions of Analamanga, Vakinankaratra, Amoron'i Mania, Haute Matsiatra, Ihorombe, and Atsimo-Andrefana. We will arrive in Ranohira before sunset, where you can spend the evening at your leisure. Overnight in Ranohira is at Satrana Lodge Hotel or similar. Day 13Isalo National Park Isalo National Park Today we trek to Isalo National Park. We depart early in the morning for the last adventure in Madagascar, a trek of about 8 hours among the majestic canyons of Isalo that will end in the forest between lemurs and chameleons. Inside the park are 55 species of birds and three species of lemurs (the ring-tailed lemur, the black-headed lemur, and Verreaux's sifaka). In the driest areas, the Pachipodium blooms between September and October. The park's main attraction is undoubtedly the rock formations, the canyons, and the natural pools, ideal for a refreshing swim. The forest vegetation is concentrated in part low in the canyons where there is water. The Uapaca Bojeri tree is endemic to this area and fire resistant. On the rocks grow other endemic plants, such as the Pachypodium and the paws of elephants (Aloe isaloensis). Overnight in Ranohira at Satrana Lodge Hotel or similar. Day 14Ranohira - Ranomafana National Park Ranohira - Ranomafana National Park After breakfast at the hotel, we drive to Ranomafana. On the way, we will stop at Anja Community Reserve to see more ring-tailed lemurs and some chameleon species. After the visit, we will have lunch at Ambalavao before we continue our drive to Ranomfana. On the way, you will enjoy the amazing scenery and see many people selling honey and spices as you pass the beautiful rice fields. Overnight in Ranomafana at Centrest hotel or similar. You are already on the legendary RN7 that connects Antananarivo with Tuelar, a journey within a journey. Unfortunately, we will not be able to drive a separate circuit, and our drive will take us through quickly changing sceneries. You will pass through mountain villages, rice fields, and breathtaking views. Nature changes again, reminding us how majestic and different this country is from any other, creating a desire to return as soon as possible. We will arrive in Antsirabe in the late afternoon.
