Where to See Hyenas

Spotted hyenas are Africa's most successful large predator, with an estimated population of 27,000–47,000. They live in complex matriarchal clans and hunt cooperatively, taking down prey as large as wildebeest. The Masai Mara and Ngorongoro Crater support dense hyena populations. Night drives in Kruger and South Luangwa offer the best encounters.
