Day by Day
Itinerary
Nairobi
You'll get picked up from the airport and head to your hotel where you'll meet your guide and the rest of your group. From there, you're traveling to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, stopping at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint and grabbing lunch in Narok town. After settling into camp, there's time to relax before your first game viewing drive in the late afternoon. You'll return for dinner and your first night at camp.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
This is a full day dedicated to game viewing across Maasai Mara's savannah grassland and rolling hills. You'll take a break for picnic lunch at the hippo pool where there's a good chance of spotting hippos and crocodiles in the water. After that, head back to camp for dinner and spend the night there.
Lake Nakuru National Park
Start early at 06:00 with a game drive that runs until 09:30, tracking wildcats and other wildlife. Once you return to camp, you'll have breakfast. Later you're leaving Maasai Mara for Nakuru, stopping for lunch along the way and passing scenic views of Mount Longonot and Lake Naivasha from the highway. Dinner and overnight in Nakuru.
Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, you'll take a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, which is known for its birds like flamingos and white rhino sanctuaries. Then it's off to Amboseli National Park with game viewing along the route, arriving late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Arusha
You'll spend the whole day on game drives through Amboseli's swamp grounds where elephants and hippos come to bathe. You can expect to see various plains game, antelopes, and birds throughout the day, and if weather cooperates, you might catch views of Mount Kilimanjaro's peak. The tour operator provides picnic lunches, and you'll return to camp for the night.
Tarangire National Park
Begin with an early morning game viewing session, then come back to camp for a full breakfast. After checking out, you're heading to Namanga Border for immigration procedures, then taking a shuttle bus to Arusha where you'll be transferred to your hotel. Dinner is on your own.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
You'll leave Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, arriving with enough time for lunch and an afternoon game viewing session. The park is home to lesser kudu, eland, lion, and gerenuk, plus it's famous for baobab trees and tree-climbing lions. Dinner and overnight at camp with upgraded beds and bedding.
Serengeti National Park
Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend about 2000 feet to the crater floor for a full day crater tour. You'll explore forest areas with monkeys and elephants, the lake area where flamingos gather, and open savannah where lions hunt. Picnic lunches are provided throughout the day. Dinner and overnight at camp with upgraded beds and bedding.
Lake Manyara
You're driving to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge, site of Louis and Mary Leakey's archaeological discoveries. There's a museum here if you'd like to visit (at an extra cost) to see some of humanity's earliest ancestral remains. Lunch happens at Seronera camp, then an afternoon game drive across Serengeti's plains where you might spot herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and lions. Dinner and overnight at camp with upgraded beds and bedding.
Start before dawn with a sunrise game drive, listening to birds while searching for leopards and lions hunting and hippos heading back to water with their families. You'll return to camp for a late leisurely breakfast around 9 am, then head out again at 10:30 for another game drive. Your driver picks routes based on season and your preferences to maximize wildlife sightings. Dinner and overnight in Serengeti.
An early morning game drive happens before breakfast, then you return to camp for late breakfast mid-morning. After that, you're departing for Lake Manyara with lunch along the way. Upon arrival, you'll have an evening game drive that continues until sunset. Dinner and overnight at camp with upgraded beds and bedding.
Following breakfast, you'll take a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park to see hippos, monkeys, tree-climbing lions, flamingos, and various bird life. You'll have lunch at the camp, then drive back to Arusha for hotel drop-off.
