Upon reaching Fort Portal city, have delicious lunch before embarking on Bigodi community tour led by a local guide. An opportunity to go for a community walk in Bigodi lets you experience African homesteads, Banana bonga products, Robusta coffee experience, traditional healers/doctors, handcraft making (ladies weaving baskets and cultural dances), etc. As the day draws to a close, retreat to your booked lodge for a delightful dinner and a peaceful overnight stay, filled with memories of cultural exploration and scenic wonders. Accompanied by a knowledgeable park guide, venture into the forest to track chimpanzees and other primates in their natural habitat, renowned as the primate capital of the world. Along the way, encounter a variety of forest dwellers such as L’hoest’s monkeys, black-faced colobus monkeys. Highlight of the day is observing the playful antics, communication, and feeding habits of the chimpanzees, typically allowed for an hour. Keep an eye out for forest bird species like the African broadbill, Ross' turaco, and great blue turaco, as well as colorful butterflies and diverse flora. After lunch, either enjoy a picnic in the park or return to your lodge. After an immersive encounter with the chimpanzees, in the evening you will take a tour around tea plantations and the beautiful crater lakes. Grouped with eight individuals, track a specific gorilla family with armed rangers and a knowledgeable guide. Be prepared for challenging terrain and varying trek durations.
