Gondar to Sankaber – Trekking to Sankaber campsite
Day 1Gondar to Sankaber – Trekking to Sankaber campsite Gondar to Sankaber – Trekking to Sankaber campsite Gondar to Sankaber – Trekking On the first day, you will drive from Gondar (or directly from the airport, depending on your arrival time) to Sankaber, which is about 136 km away. We will stop at the park headquarters in Debark for registration and to gather our trekking staff, including scouts, guides, and a cook if necessary. After registration, we will start our trek, which will take about 3 to 4 hours through the beautiful Simien Mountains. We will reach our campsite at Sankaber (3250 meters), where we will stay overnight under the stars. Accommodation: Camping at Sankaber 3250masl. Day 2Sankaber – Jinbar Waterfall – Mount Enatye – Chennek Campsite Sankaber – Jinbar Waterfall – Mount Enatye – Chennek Campsite Sankaber – Jinbar Waterfall – Mount Enatye – Chennek Campsite After breakfast, we will trek for around 2.5 hours to the stunning Jinbar Waterfall, which drops 530 meters. Enjoy the views, then we will drive for 40 minutes to Aynameda. From there, we will begin the walk up to Mount Enatye (4070 meters) across the wide grasslands. If we are lucky, we might see the Ethiopian wolf, which is rare and endemic to the Simien Mountains. At the peak, we will have lunch and take in the breathtaking scenery. This area of the park is known for its dramatic cliffs and wide views. Afterward, we will descend for another 2 hours to Chennek campsite (3620 meters), known for its dramatic cliffs and expansive canyons. We will spend the night here. Chennek – Mount Buwahit – Gondar
Day 3Chennek – Mount Buwahit – Gondar Chennek – Mount Buwahit – Gondar Chennek – Mount Buwahit – Gondar After breakfast, we will start our ascent to Mount Buwahit (4430 meters), which is the second-highest peak in Ethiopia. While at Chennek, keep an eye out for wildlife such as the Walia ibex, which is found only in this area, and if we are fortunate, we might even see the Ethiopian wolf. You will also have the chance to see various animals, including klipspringers, bushbucks, and gelada baboons. Leopards are in the area, but they are very rare to spot. Once we reach the peak, we will have lunch with stunning views of the surrounding canyons and landscape. Afterward, we will drive back to Gondar, completing our 3-day trek, which covers many of the highlights of the Simien Mountains National Park, offering experiences that others usually see in 4 days.
