Meet your professional safari guide for a briefing about the trip and Akagera National Park. Embark on a scenic drive to Akagera National Park (approximately 3 hours), passing through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside. Afternoon: Check in and enjoy a delicious lunch at your lodge, soaking in the serene wilderness atmosphere. Relax briefly, perhaps taking in the views or spotting wildlife near the lodge. Evening: Head out for a captivating boat ride on Lake Ihema, one of the park’s highlights. Glide along the water, observing hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife, including the rare shoebill stork and African fish eagles. Return to the lodge as the sun sets, with the sounds of the wild surrounding you. Enjoy a leisurely dinner and spend the night listening to the calls of nocturnal animals. Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Return to Kigali. Embark on an exciting morning game drive through Akagera’s diverse landscapes—open savannahs, woodlands, and lakeshores. Search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, and if lucky, lions or leopards. Visit the Akagera Rhino Sanctuary (if time permits) for a chance to see endangered white rhinos under ranger protection. Capture stunning photos of the wildlife and scenic views before exiting the park. Midday & Afternoon: Begin the journey back to Kigali, enjoying the picturesque Rwandan countryside. Stop for lunch at a selected restaurant along the way, reflecting on your safari adventures. Arrive in Kigali by mid-to-late afternoon, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
