The drive takes you through the magical, cultivated hills. It’s a beautiful drive through the neck of the impenetrable forest. It gets you to a point of over 2650 meters above sea level. You'll have lunch along the way or at the lodge, depending on time. Take a community walk in the village of Ruhija to see how the people in the mountains live and how the Batwa people used to live in the forest. Then, you can relax at the lodge in the evening, taking in the views of the mountains and forest. Day 6Mountain Gorilla Tracking Activity Mountain Gorilla Tracking Activity After breakfast at around 7:45 am, with a packed lunch and drinking water, you will transfer to the starting point for a briefing on the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. You will then continue to the forest for gorilla tracking, following them. This activity can last from a few hours up to a full day, depending on the location of the gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest. You'll relax at the lodge as you check on the naps taken while in the jungle. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge. This vast reserve offers arguably the most productive montane forest birding in Africa and supports 23 of Uganda’s 24 Albertine Rift endemic bird species. Once part of a much larger forest that included the Virunga Volcanoes in neighbouring Rwanda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is now an ecological island within a sea of human cultivation and is of immense conservation importance. You'll proceed to the park headquarters for a nature walk from Nkuringo to Buhoma. You'll enjoy a 15km walk to Buhoma following the Kashasha River and Ivy River trails. This is a full-day walk where there would be an opportunity to visit the Munyaga River falls in the forest. Your walking guide will share his knowledge of the forest that you come into contact with, and not simply an A to B. You'll recharge your busy yet amazing day at the lodge. There is a rich birdlife, especially our version of storks in the wetland sports, as you reach the flamingoes in the salt lakes. At 3 pm, you'll get ready for the classic highlights on the 2-hour boat cruise on the famous Kazinga channel, a 36 km channel linking Lake George and Lake Edward. You have the chance of spotting land and water-adapted hippopotamuses yawning and the National Geographic Society killing machine, the Nile Crocodile, gaping along the banks! In this tropical rainforest, a community of around 80 habituated chimps lives, as well as beautiful birds and other forest creatures. You'll enjoy a walk and hopefully have an exciting meeting with the chimpanzees. You'll get back to the lodge for lunch after the trek and have a relaxed afternoon. You can either relax at the lodge, enjoying the view, or go for village walks in the area, letting you see village life and a nearby crater lake. You'll have lunch at Red Chili rest camp. In the afternoon, you'll go for the 2 pm boat ride on the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls, where you get to see the hippos (You have never seen more hippos yawning, grooming in their pods anywhere else than here), Nile Crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of beautiful bird species along the banks. If you are a keen birder, this might be your magnet to catch them. When reaching the falls, you'll jump off the boat and go with a guide to the top of the falls. It is a beautiful hike that takes you to see the falls close up, as an explosive dash of water at close range gushes through a narrow crevice before the Nile continues its journey towards the Mediterranean. Your guide picks you up at the top of the falls. You'll continue to the lodge. (This hike includes a steep trail, so it might not be suitable if you have some health issues.).
