Kenya and Tanzania combine to create our new favourite combination tour, Classic East Africa. Travel across vast landscapes, through the Rift Valley and across Kenya’s “breadbasket”. Be mesmerised by Mount Kilimanjaro with a sundowner in hand as you watch the sunset over the spectacular mountain. Visit local villages and markets, then relax and enjoy the amenities at your wonderful lodges and tented camps. Search for the Big 5 and hidden wildlife with the experience of your fantastic local guides.

Day by Day

Itinerary

1

Nairobi

You'll arrive in Nairobi and get transferred to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is open for you to walk around the city on your own and get your bearings before the safari starts.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

The drive takes you across Kenya's fertile highlands and down the rift escarpment, passing through wheat and barley fields before reaching the Masai Mara. After lunch at camp, you'll head out on an afternoon game drive to look for the Big 5.

Lake Nakuru

Start early with a morning game drive, then head back to camp for lunch. The afternoon brings another game drive, and later you'll visit a Masai village to see local life and traditions firsthand.

Amboseli National Park

You'll travel across the Rift Valley plains to Lake Elementaita Lodge, where there's good opportunity to spot local birdlife. After lunch, continue on to Lake Nakuru to search for flamingoes, rhinos, and the endangered Rothschild Giraffe.

Tarangire National Park

Have an early breakfast, then head to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride. From there, you'll leave the Rift Valley and travel south towards Amboseli, where Mount Kilimanjaro comes into view.

Karatu

You'll spend the whole day on game drives in Amboseli. A picnic lunch gets served in the park while you search for large elephant herds, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and over 400 bird species.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Leave Kenya and head to the Namanga border to cross into Tanzania. After lunch in Arusha, continue to Tarangire National Park and settle into classic safari tents with private views of the bush and Lake Burunge.

Arusha

Start with a morning game drive to search for wildlife, then travel through small Maasai villages and farms. You'll pass through lush green hills and valleys heading towards Karatu town, known for its vibrant local market.

After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the crater, called the world's largest natural zoo. You'll have lunch there surrounded by wildlife and return to your lodge in the afternoon, watching for game along the way back.

Have one last breakfast before traveling to Arusha for lunch. Then you'll transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
