With the help of experienced guides, you’ll walk through the forest in search of one of the habituated chimpanzee families. Once located, spend an hour observing them up close as they feed, play, groom, or move through the treetops — a truly special encounter with our closest wild relatives. Return to your lodge to rest and enjoy lunch. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk through Bigodi — a welcoming nearby village known for its warm hospitality and vibrant local life. Stroll along scenic paths, meet members of the community, and gain insight into daily rural Ugandan life, from traditional homesteads to local crafts and customs. It’s a relaxed, culturally enriching experience that connects you with the people who call this region home. The drive takes you along routes that pass through parts of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you may be lucky enough to spot wildlife along the roadside — from elephants to antelopes and other savannah animals. Lunch will be enjoyed along the way, with the landscape gradually shifting from open plains to the dense, misty highlands of southwestern Uganda. Arrive at your lodge near Bwindi in the late afternoon. Check in and relax in the serene forest surroundings, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere as you prepare for tomorrow’s unforgettable experience. After a short briefing, set off with your guide into the forest to track one of the habituated gorilla families. Once located, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing them up close — playing, moving through the trees, and interacting with each other in their natural environment. This is the highlight of any trip to Uganda and an experience that leaves a lasting impression. After the trek, continue your adventure to Lake Bunyonyi. Surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with 29 small islands, this lake is Africa’s second deepest — and completely free of crocodiles and hippos, making it ideal for a peaceful experience. For guests with a late-night flight, an optional canoe trek (available at an extra cost) offers a final bit of adventure and a chance to explore the lake more closely. After breakfast, begin your scenic drive back to Entebbe. On the way, stop at the Equator for lunch, photos, and a quick craft shop visit, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening for your flight.
